For some time now, Owen has been supplying us with a club newsletter every two months and during lockdown monthly. He is now relinquishing this role and we are looking forward to someone filling his role.

So an absolutly huge THANK YOU to Owen for the consistent hard work, entertainment and a fantastic read that he has provided for the club.

Hi All

The club is putting together plenty of events for this year and we are being invited to join with other groups. Attached is an invitation to take part in 3 runs this year to raise money for our charity, Rainbows. The first of these is the national Drive it Day. We would like to join in with this and hope that the club will be well represented.

Another letter was received from the Moira Canal Festival. Hopefully we can get talking about it at the next two meetings and put together a convoy to join the display and enjoy the event.

Hi

We are holding the Moira Canal Festival over the weekend of 21, 22 May. We like to have a modest display of classic vehicles at the event, and invite any of the Leicestershire branch Minors to join us. I am a member myself and will be there with my Series II Traveller.

It is a family event on the banks of the Ashby Canal, at the Moira Furnace.

There will be entertainment over the weekend. This year, our 20th event, we welcome the D Day Darlings (Britain's got talent finalists), Falconry display, Morris dancing, Battle of Britain Memorial flight, boats, classic cars, bar, bands, stalls, exhibits, children's entertainment, refreshments and the return oof Mother Duck and the Moira Duck Race.

Contact me at moiracanalfestival@outlook.com for details.

We are at Moira Furnace, Furnace Lane, Moira DE12 7DD

Regards

Geoff Pursglove

These events and more will provide interesting excursions for us but sometimes we like that leisurely read. For some time now, Owen has been supplying us with a club newsletter every two months and during lockdown monthly. He is now relinquishing this role and we are looking forward to someone filling his role. Our new members may want to get involved with this or help the new editor by providing stories and anecdotes of their vehicle preservation exploits. Those who have been with us longer, may also have things to share that would make a nice read with the morning coffee.

Please talk to John and/or the committee regarding any assistance that you can provide, to keep the newsletter arriving in your inbox. I will provide an article about this year’s events and our new member Steve has some pictures to share (I am sure I can get some words from him as well). I am also sure we can get someone to write a review of Tomorrow evening with tips for reference in the future. There, I have some content for the new Editor, please step forward.

I must not forget to thank Owen for all the hard work he has put in to keep us entertained. The humour and thought that goes in to our newsletter has been well appreciated. Fortunately, Owen will remain one of our gang.

See you all tomorrow I hope

Best wishes

Diane
